Project Overview:
The Maple Lake Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Action Plan will improve the safety of road users and pedestrians throughout Maple Lake by identifying strategies to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and reduce traffic-related injuries. The plan will serve as a roadmap for implementing effective safety measures and promoting a culture of safe transportation throughout the city.
The Maple Lake SS4A Action Plan will utilize traffic management analysis, pedestrian and bicycle planning practices, and national design guidance, while incorporating local planning efforts to devise a plan that will produce what Maple Lake needs.
The Maple Lake SS4A Action Plan will identify infrastructure gaps, policy and program recommendations, priority projects, and funding opportunities that will collectively improve safety and connectivity for drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and other users within Maple Lake. These elements will be summarized as an implementation matrix within the plan that will aim for the goal to reach Vision Zero.
Project Goals:
- Improve Movement: Make getting around town easier and safer for everyone. This includes people who walk, ride bikes, drive cars, or use any other means of getting around.
- Fix Infrastructure: Improve old streets by adding things they're missing. These could be new sidewalks, safe places to cross the road, different intersections, or new paths.
- Plan for the Future: Coordinate existing and future city plans and identify budget and funding opportunities to deliver new infrastructure and infrastructure improvements creating a safer Maple Lake.
